God Will Hear You

2 Chronicles 7:12 – God will hear you.

“I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice.” - 2 Chronicles 7:12

One of the most dynamic passages of scripture is found in 2 Chronicles chapter 7. In this chapter, King Solomon has just completed the construction of the LORD’s temple. The beauty and splendor of this magnificent architectural achievement was absolutely breathtaking. The people celebrated and cheered as they dedicated the LORD’s temple with excitement. As beautiful as this monumental marvel was, it could not be compared with the divine presence of God. Scripture informs us that God was so pleased with the authentic worship and sacrifice of the people, that he responded by sending fire from heaven to consume the burnt offering and the sacrifices on the altar. Then something amazing happened...His presence filled the temple itself. In 2 Chronicles 7:2, it says, “And the priests could not enter the house of the Lord, because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD’s house.” Can you imagine such an experience?

When Solomon finished dedicating the temple to the LORD, the LORD spoke to him and said, I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice” (2 Chronicles 7:12-14). God heard Solomon’s prayer and He chose to dwell within the handiwork of men. Their efforts to please Him resulted in the supernatural expression of His divine power. They experienced God like never before, and King Solomon received fresh instruction and revelation from the LORD. The people presented their very best to God, and He responded in a dynamic, supernatural way.

The LORD is not blind when we are sincerely trying to make Him happy. In fact, God is absolutely delighted when we give it our all to please Him. He is moved, emotionally, when we do our best to communicate with Him. One of my happiest memories as a parent was when my children attempted to make a Father’s Day breakfast for me. They were probably around 6 and 7 years old, and they came up with the cool idea that they were going to prepare something special for me. With the assistance of their wonderful mother, I had an “interesting” breakfast that consisted of cold waffles and scrambled eggs mixed with Honey Nut Cheerios. It was not the greatest breakfast, but it was one of my favorite breakfasts of all time. Why? Because my babies went out of their way to show their love and appreciation for me. In their eyes, it was a culinary masterpiece, and I responded in kind, because I love them...just like God loves you and me.

God hears our heartfelt prayers. He is moved when we have a genuine desire to align our lives with his will. For every person who has walked away from the LORD, He gets excited when He sees you inching back towards Him. It may not be perfect, but He will never turn away genuine love. The children of Israel presented God with their very best. Solomon’s temple was absolutely gorgeous, but, gold, silver, and imported marble will never impress God as much as it impresses us. In fact, we may be impressed with the size of our tithe and offering, but dollar amounts will never impress God. Our sanctuary decor and the size of our buildings are nothing more than cold waffles and scrambled eggs mixed with Honey Nut Cheerios to God. But when we give our very best to Him, He is moved with compassion. When we set aside a special time to speak to Him...He is very interested in what we have to say. When we engage in authentic worship...He is eager to respond. So, be encouraged today. With everything that you are experiencing in this difficult season, speak to your heavenly Father. He is eager to hear from you.

God will hear you!

Now that’s Good Word!
